Intel’s New Effort to Turbocharge Cellular Networks with Modular Antenna Arrays





Intel says it has prototyped a chip-based antenna array that can sit in a milk-carton-sized cellular base station. The technology could turbocharge future wireless networks by using ultrahigh frequencies.

Intel Talks Atom Z3460/Z3480 (Merrifield), Z3560/Z3580 (Moorefield) and LTE at MWC 2014





For the past couple of years Intel has used MWC as an opportunity to update us on its mobile plans. This year is no different as Intel officially launches its latest LTE modem and first 22nm smartphone SoC. Intel is announcing their 2nd generation multi-mode LTE modem at MWC: the XMM 7260.

Intel launches 64-bit Atom processor Merrifield, slates Moorefield for H2 2014, partners with Lenovo, Asus, Foxconn





At Mobile World Congress in Barcelona today, Intel launched its latest 64-bit Intel Atom Processor (codenamed Merrifield) for smartphones and tablets. The company also disclosed details of its next-generation 64-bit quad core Atom processor for Android mobile devices, codenamed Moorefield.

Intel finishes work on 64-bit Android 4.4 for x86 smartphones





Intel has completed work on a 64-bit version of Android OS for x86 smartphones, and the software will be ready to load on handsets with its upcoming Atom 64-bit chip code-named Merrifield. Intel has been making code contributions to the 64-bit version of Android 4.4 code-named KitKat.
