CHIPMAKER Intel, which has struggled to match the power efficiency of its Atom chip architecture to that of its rival ARM, will open its semiconductor fabrication plants to ARM chip designers. In a world of strange alliances, this will go down as one of the strangest.

Intel Makes 14nm ARM for Altera





SAN JOSE, Calif. – Altera's deal in June to use Intel's 14 nm FinFET process took an interesting twist when the FPGA designer announced today it will pack ARM's 64-bit cores into its chips.
